Titanium bulletproof plates for army body armor 6.5 mm original. Plates are used in military bulletproof vests with special pockets for inserting plates. Plates are used in army bulletproof vests of various modifications of type 6B5.
Lightweight Body Armor. At Veterans Manufacturing our selection of lightweight body armor plates comes in a variation of sizes and styles. Our level III IIIA and AK/AR plates can protect against different types of ballistics. The sizes range from 6x6 for side armor plates to 12x10 for body armor plates and a backpack insert that measures at ...
This armor is NOT the one tested in the video but is an example of alloy plates available for armor systems. Im not sure that wearing around an inch and a quarter thick plate of titanium is an improvement over the thinner steel based on bulkiness but it sure does stop the rounds even a black tip.50BMG which almost made it through.
Mild steel sucks as armor. Grade 38 titanium is specifically designed for armor and its not brittle at all. It39s the work hardening charastics of titanium that gives this alloy its edge because it deforms as the bullet hits it and hardens as it39s deformed to slow the round down.
TITANIUM ARMOR HISTORY In general the armor alloy with the best ballistic properties is the one that is the hardest yet does not exhibit brittleness. When titanium armor MILA46077 was being developed in the late 1950s it was difficult to keep test plates from cracking under ballistic attack.
Titanium can take single hits from highcaliber bullets but it shatters and becomes penetrable with multiple hits from militarygrade armor piercing bullets. In the end titanium is bulletproof for the most part against bullets fired from guns that one would likely find on the shooting range on the street or on the hunt in the mountains.

Ballistic protection is the most common kind of body armor also typically referred to as bulletresistant armor or a bulletproof vest. This kind of body armor offers bullet resistance although the exact types of ammunition it can resist depends on the level that the armor has been categorized. The levels of ballistic protection are assigned ...
My intent was to simply make a titanium plate that would be the size / shape of the ballistic armor and just slip in between the armor and the trauma pad. Weight would be negligible. If the armor had curves to it I would attempt to cold form the titanium to match the shape.

Titanium Armor The first titanium alloys including the famous Ti6Al4V which now accounts for more than 50 of total titanium production were developed in the USA in the late 40s. Shortly after their development an assessment from Pitler and Hurlich noted that these new alloys showed promise at defeating small arms projectiles.
